Young Author's Contest
"FRIEND OF R. FRIEND AUTHOR CONTEST!"

“Ginseng, Great Day in The Morning” will be the first in a series entitled,
“Animal Tales – Noses Included.” This new short chapter series will make its debut in the winter of 2006.

Dream of becoming an author? Here’s where you fit into the picture or should I say book. Sunflower Seeds Press is looking for a child that will become an author in that series. The contest entitled “Friend of R. Friend Author Contest” is open to children ages 6-15 (age as of May 31, 2009).

Here’s how to enter. Click on the Pigtales”  link at the top of this page, then click on the Ginseng button and read the story - “Ginseng, Great Day in the Morning!"  Then rewrite the story from the dog’s point of view! Let your imagination run wild as you put yourself in Ginseng’s shoes or should I say “paws.” What was it like to be Ginseng? What was she like as a puppy? Why did her first owners take her to an animal shelter in the first place? What did she think of her new home and family? Did she like her retractable leash . . . the ride in the jeep . . . the snow? Was she afraid? What and who did she encounter along her path through the Natchez Trace Woods?

• Your story must be typed (parents may help with typing but no editing) and at least 250 words, but no longer than 650 words.

• The contest is based on content, creativity, and imagination.

• Drawings are not required. However, they may be submitted with your
story.

• Send your entry to: Friend of R. Friend Author Contest
                                 Sunflower Seeds Press
                                 PO Box 1476
                                 Franklin, Tennessee 37065.

• Entry must be postmarked by July 31, 2009. Only one entry per child is permitted.

• Include your name, age & birthday, address, phone number, and email address. Your entry will not be returned.

Shortened and written in storytelling form, this account will give you the
framework in which to write your story. This is not the book. The book
will be based on the following story but we have to save some surprises!
